2012 In Review

2012 was a mediocre year of books for me. I read some "good" books but none were absolutely "great." This post is  bittersweet for me. Bitter because I did not meet my book goal. Sweet because I read 14 more books than I did in 2011. I really enjoyed the "book challenges" I participated in this year they really kept me motivated.

I'm excited about the books I will encounter in 2013! I'm starting the new year with The Twelves Tribes of Hattie by Ayana Mathis along with a new and old novel from Jennifer Haigh (that I will review side by side) whom I fell in love with after reading Faith.

I hope to incorporate more bookish posts this year to break up the monotony of posting reviews only. I want my readers to become more engaged in 2013 (cough, cough). I plan on setting a more realistic book goal for 2013 with the hopes of exceeding it. The most shocking challenge I have set for myself for 2013 is a "book buying ban." If I make it one month without buying a book that will be news enough! I shall persevere in all my 2013 challenges!

Mediocre would describe the number of books I read last year but the books I chose were awesome. I think this was my best year by far with regards to choosing books. I think the blogging has something to do with it because I'm picking up recommendations from people that read the types of books that I like.

I certainly need to pick up the pace with the posts but there's no way I would survive a book buying band so I won't even set myself up for failure! I'm actually quite pleased that my home is turning into a little library :)
